For the firefish I am getting a hood specially develiped for my tankso the jumping wont be a problem.

Not sure how this hood is going to be designed, but unless it incorporates some kind of 1/4" mesh directly covering all the openings in your tank, it won't keep your fish from jumping. Firefish can jump through very small openings. A lot of people have lost even bigger fish that jump and die inside the hood.

A mesh top is easy to make.

Ok thank you for the idea. The light I was going to get was going to cover the tank but now I realize that it will be too hot. ( metal halides) I am probably going with tge mesh idea.
