Looking for a club house to rent

If we do decide on this idea, we should make sure the place(whatever direction we go in) in a centralized location. I.E. nothing in Kissimee, Sanford, Christmas, etc., but instead someplace close to the city but far enough not to be too expensive. I'm sure there are some nice places near Semoran area.

Heck, if we really want a tank at the place, maybe we could have our meetings at a place in trade for setting up a tank for the restaurant/clubhouse:). I know, I know, I'm a dreamer:):)...

what about george and i that drive 40 to 50 miles every month. atleast george drives and his happy meal on wheels gets 35 miles to the gallon:lol:

I thought the greatest ORCA meetings was when we were at SITC and at Exotic Abyss (aka Saltwater Reef).

Agreed, we should have meetings at the LFS's that would be sweet.

Thanks for the info regarding "Orange County Amenities". I'll be looking into some of those options going down the road.

I don't like the idea of having one place where we meet at every month. I like how every month the ORCA meeting takes place at a different location. I think if we were to meet at one centralized location everytime some of us would get bored of it. The tanks we see in peoples homes every month and the great stores that we host our meetings at keeps us (IMO) coming back and entertained. I really like it when ORCA meetings are at local LFS because it not only promotes their business but it allows us to see to see the store and what they have for sale.

Just my two cents.

What about the Science Center? Early in the clubs life there was talk about putting a tank at the Science Center and having someone maintain it? I don't remember who, might have been the previous Sea in the City owner.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their feedback and opinions regarding where ORCA might entertain future meetings.

Fortunately, we have hosts already signed up for the next six meetings and despite the size of our attendance, it hasn't deterred folks from signing up.

I'm sure this topic will come up again when the next "new" Board of Directors is voted in, in 2008.

Personally, I prefer meetings in homes vs. LFS's. However, a periodic meeting in a LFS to break things up has been working out for us so far.

Thanks again and look for this discussion to come up at a future club meeting.

Matt

I think we all enjoy going to people's houses, but I also understand with the size of these meetings why some may be hesitant to sign up. Heck, at 40 people per meeting, it was already too much for my home:).

If we can continue with homes, GREAT!! If not, I do think the LFS idea is a spectacular one. Gets our sponsors involved in our club, gets our members out to our sponsor stores, and affords our guests and members an opportunity to shop during our meeting, and on top of this let us not forget that it gets some of their customers who don't know about ORCA interested in our club.

I personally have not been to most of the LFS's around the area for a few reasons...mainly because of distance and laziness. At the same time, it does not mean that I do not like the stores...I may end up loving them, but I just haven't had the chance. It would give me an excuse to go visit our sponsors and spend a few bucks...
