Hey Folks,

Just looking to see if anyone has a coral beauty or a flame angel they would be interested in selling or selling soon?

I ask the locals rather than buy from a store because

a) if it's been with you at least a month or 2 it takes the worry that it is not cyano caught

and b) if its in a reef and not a coral nipper I feel more at ease of taking the risk along with the fact the fish is healthy and eating.

Thanks

Nick

haha i have both..not for sale though. they definitely add alot of color and are one my favorite additions to the tank. some people say they tear up corals, but ive never had that problem. i guess if you just feed them nori and some other food they will keep off the coral. if the glass is dirty they like to pick on the algae too. hope you find yourself a nice docile angel

It's an angel....There is no particular coral it isn't capable of picking at.

The coral beauty is much more forgiving on the risk factor than a flame angel but imo a flame angel is very beautiful with very vibrant color.

I would also prefer a flame because it is a bit tougher in character and I need that being his partners would be a 2' snow flake eel, blue jaw trigger, hamlet, marron clown, and hawkfish. They are not bullies on one another but they do mind themselves and they can be tough when it's feeding time and keeping others out of their homes.

On top of it my tank is established enough..1 year already to safely place an angel with no concerns.

Please hope someone has one for sale :)

tks for the info but would you say it would pick more lps or sps or soft corals cause i've got 1 with just sps and the other mixed of lps and zoo? Both the same size.

They'll both pick at everything they want. The only way I've heard to keep them from picking is by keeping them well fed (autofeeder every couple of hours). My coral beauty and Rusty are both great fish that add a lot of color and personality to my tank, but I've seen them pick on just about everything once, however they do not pick on corals consistently. I even make an effort to hide or stand a good 20 feet away from my tank to observe out of their visual range to make sure that they're not causing too much trouble.

Reefwreak....whats yoour take so far on the autofeeder? I have read a couple stories where the autofeeder just seems to forget it has to stop... Is the idea to place flakes? pellets? and at a small rate just in case a shutoff failure would occur?

thanks,

Nick

I don't have an autofeeder, but I've heard great things about the ehiem. I just can't bring myself to afford it. I have not heard about it stopping or getting stuck or clumping because it has an a fan that keeps it try inside of it. You would probably want to use flake or pellets (I prefer pellets because they sink and flakes tend to float more. You just set at what time or how many times a day you want it to run.

I have the EHEIM and yes very skeptical at frist but since I have tons of fish -I had to figure a way to feed them midday+ plus when I'm away.
No clumping or malfunction in 7 months.
Hey Nick I saw some beauty down south at aquariumart from Hawaii and the xmas islands last week.
