Ron, are you still using the Evergrow led?
I still have my EG fixtures, but in the last 6 months they have all been replaced for various reasons.
However, they all still work fine.
It's been due to 2 new tanks that are different lengths, so the old fixtures didn't fit. I swapped out one over my frag tank to try a new ReeFi-Lab pendant and I like it a lot so far. Very good quality components and very well priced at $300. The last EG came down so I could do some testing of a new high end fixture that isn't on the market yet.
Too bad BML isn't a thing anymore.
I agree. Reef_World, BML is
Build
My
LED. I met them at the Dallas MACNA when they were just getting into the aquarium market. They made a good quality product and very flexible on light spectrum.
Ron,
If you are going with 21ledusa, I would go with the Reefbar Pro, not the Reefbar. I had 5 of the Reefbars supplementing 4 T5s and I got decent growth. However, they didn't last much more than a year before random leds started to not work. (They are little Epistar .5w leds if I remember.) The Reefbar Pros look a little more well built and use 3w Bridgelux. Their customer service was good as they replaced one of the strips that went bad very quickly. I also had a power supply that fried and they replaced that too. Just wanted to share my actual experience with the product and company.
Joey, thanks a lot for sharing your experience with 21ledusa. At this point I'm seriously considering 2 Reefbar Pro fixtures from them. A 44" that is all 445nm blue to hang off the back of my Photon V2 and a second 44" that has 24 white leds (12,000K) and 24 that are 445nm blue to hang off the front of the V2.
I just wish I had a neat and tidy mounting system so I could attach them to the Photon V2. The unit Reef Breeders just introduced has 'groves' in the case and comes with a hanger that is designed for attaching it and has a 'hinge' so the bar can be 'aimed' where you want it in the tank. A very nice feature. The 21ledusa fixtures have smooth cases, so not a easy mix and match. The Reefbar Pro fixtures do have 'legs', but they are very short in height and look like Marineland/Current Orbit wire legs which I think are too weak, especially when stretched out to their limit (I'd be at 60"). If I get them, I may try to replace the legs with something I can make.
So I'm still debating. It's not like I need more light. I'm just playing and trying to make the tank look a bit better. More white at the front edge of the tank for less shadows under corals and rocks and more blue at the back to make the tank look deeper (front to back).
