Looking for a macro lens for a Nikon D50

Hello, I am new to the world of SLR's and I am looking for a macro lens for a Nikon D50. I have tired to research myself but everything i read just goes over my head!! Can any one recommend a good macro for tank shots?! I am looking to take pics all over the tank so i need one that will focus at the front as well as the back of the tank and with a large apature (i think it's apature, the one that effects the depth of field!!) if that's possible!! At the moment i have a Sigma 70-300 and a Nikon 28-100 but i have to stand half way across the room to focus, so by the time i have found something to take a pic off and walked across the room the thing (what ever i am trying to capture) has moved and the whole process starts again!!

The Sigma 70-300mm isn't a real macro. It just has a macro feature. It will give you 1:2 magnification as opposed to a real macro that gives you 1:1.
A real macro lens would be something like a Nikon 105mm micro lens. Here's a link.

He dude, not to sure what the difference is, i am sure that there is, but i have the nikon D70s, i was just asking the same question last month, not to sure with this helps you, but this is the feedback that i got.

Thanks for all the help, i have just bid on the Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR so we will see what happens!! I will post some pics when and if i get it! I should be buying food but thats no fun!!
