looking for a Mertens carpet...

I am looking for a Mertens carpet anemone, and am either willing to trade a lot of my acros, ricordia, shrooms, xenia, leathers, red goniopora, true fiji rbta, and flour green haddoni carpet anemone, or just tell me when you see one for sale

Hi can you show a pic of it please.

This is a merten's carpet. They aren't all this big. They come in other colors, but most of the ones I have seen are similar to this color.

They have very distinctive, usually orangish red, spots under the disk. Unlike other carpets, these spots continue all the way down to the foot.

It is actually bigger now. It goes from leather to leather. I had to move the frogspawn. Its about 24" across.

do they split, can you frag them or do they just keep growing?

No record of them doing it in captivity.

You will need a male+female to get a spawn.

I saw one in a wholesalers tank that was two disks with one foot. I have no way of knowing if it was in the process of splitting or had recovered from an injury or what. I have seen haddonis that have gone though a budding process that takes almost a year to complete, with the new anemone being almost as large as the parent.

Some people have had success in splitting haddoni carpets down the middle. I am considering trying it with this anemone but its not going to be an easy decision.

If I do split it, the other half goes to showjet.
