Looking for a new Angel

Hi Everyone,

I currently have a 5.5 inch emporer in a 150 gallon tank ( 6 ft.). He's doing great, but is getting aggressive. He does not do well with any passive fish, with the exception of my Ocelaris Clown (3 in) who is protected by 2 RBTAs. The good news is he has rid my tank of Aiptasia, and Anthelia which was getting to be a real plague. I do somewhat fear that he will attack the RBTAs, but I think he tried that before, and got a pretty good sting. I'm looking to get the Emporer to a good home ( don't want to trade in), and move to a more mellow Angel. I was thinking of a Majestic, Blue face, or possibly a regal. If I go Majestic, I would want to pair him with a flame- I currently have an Eibli- Any mixing issues there? Want to start introducing more corals ( ie., mixed reef)- Would the majestic work? Regal is an option, but I worry about health issues. Please let me know if you have any advice.

Thanks!

You definitely could.Ive seen both of those species kept successfully in numerous setups under 120 gallons.

You can do both, but one thing about Majestic is they are very shy least mine was I hardly ever saw it was always in the rocks most of the time until feeding. My favorite is Scribbled Angel tons of personality and prefect citizen. I have all large breed angel in one tank.

So, How about this for a stock list. All fish would be new unless indicated.

Regal Angel
Majestic Angel
Eibli Angel ( current)
Flame Angel
Yellow Tang (5 in- 10 year resident)
Powder Blue Tang
3-5 Lyretail Anthias
5 green chromis
Orchid Dottyback
Some cool peaceful wrasse- I'll take recommendations
Ocellaris Clown ( 3 in female hosts in RBTA)

6 ft 150, 170 lbs LR, Euroreef Skimmer, Sump, fuge, GFO in Reactor, Carbon in Sump, VHO w supplemental LED

Thanks,

Chris

You might have some aggression when introducing the powder blue and angels with that "5 yellow tang. I know when I had one yellow tang he was a terror for all new comers, sometimes he stop being a bully after a couple of days and sometimes he kept on stalking.. That's why I sold him and now my tank is more peaceful.

I think I would pull the tang out to temporary quarters, when I introduce the powder blue. He's been pretty tolerant of new comers, even when I introduced a Naso, which I will never try in a 6 ft tank again. He got a little excited when I introduced the emporer, but he soon realized he didn't have the muscle and let the angel be the boss of the tank. The emporer barks at everyone. Especially when its feeding time.

On the regal go with a juvenile to sub Adult Red Sea(2" to 3"). My juvenile came in and ate the next day and has been reef safe so far?

I'm in the St. Louis area. Are there any SEASL or Slash members that would be interested in an Emporer Angel? He's in a 150- I would want him to go to a 180 minimum, 200+ would be better.
