looking for a quiet return pump

I am looking for one or two return pumps that are external for my new 400 gal. Its drilled with two 2" drains and four 1" returns. They are going to be housed in the stand so I would like something quiet. Thanks for any advise.

If you want quiet and external, look at the pumps by sequence. High build quality, 3 year warranty. They are quiet partly because they are lower rpm than most other pumps. The lower rpm however means they have to be large. My reeflo Tarpon for instance is like 18"x 8" footprint. I think the dart and snapper are smaller, which are primarily for closed loops, but in under the stand application they may function well for return.

The Poseidon pumps are also apparently very quiet, but they are water cooled(tank water) and therefore add heat to the tank.

I LIKE THE REEF DARTS BUT RIGHT NOW I HAVE A BLUELINE RTL100 I DONT HEAR ANYTHING FEW PPL HAE ASK ME WHAT PUMP I WAS USING CUZ IT WAS SO QUITE. 1 DOWNSIDE ITS 390W. BUT
ITS 2000 GAL HR. VERY NICE PUMP

I have 2 blueline pumps that are totally silent. Granted they use more power but have 39 to 45 feet of head instead of 12. If you don't have hardly any head height to overcome the Dart is a great way to go but if you have more than 10 feet of head then I would go with a Pan World or Blueline pump.

I am leaning to the dart and am thinking of at least two maybe a third for water movement. The tank is around 450gal mix reef. What do you think?

I have a GenX, a Panworld and a T4. The T4 is the quietest - adds the most heat, the Panworld and GenX add almost no heat by make a lot of noise.

Eheims: Quiet, well-built, next to no heat transfer and low power consumption.

Sequence pumps are very nice, but are not pressure-rated meaning that they lose A LOT of head-pressure (important for a return pump which is pumping up against gravity). That's why they're mainly used for closed-loops where vertical pumping is less important.

Couple of ideas:
Two Panworld 100PX-MD40R

One Panworld 100PXX-MD40X Connected to an OM Super Squirt plumbed to the 4 outlets.

IF U HAVE LOT OF HEIGHT TO ACCOMPLISHED I WOULD GO WITH A PRESSURE RATED PUMP LIKE BLUELINE OR PAN WORLD (SAME THING) IF NOT MUCH PRESSURE THE THE SEQUENCE REEF FLO
SEQUENCE DO MAKE SOME PRESSURE PUMPS TOO, I LOVE MY
BLUELINE ITS JUST CUZ THEY ARE PRESSURE RATED THEY USED ALOT MORE POWER. HOPE IT HELPED

GOOD LUCK
