Looking for a Skeletor Eel

where are you located? if you are in the US, try contacting liveaquaria Diver's Den (the facility in Rhinelander WI). they have had them from time to time.
 
Hey Lisa, I'm in Austin.

I tried to contact LA DD, but haven't heard back yet. Tried a few other sites that mentioned them online as well, but haven't heard back.

Will probably give it until next week, or I'll just go with a Golden Dwarf Moray...
 
Fish Stalker - I sent out about 1000 inquries, some seem promising.

Do you want me to let you know if I find anything, or are you tied into LA DD with the eel mistake they made?
 
Hey sure, if they get back to me great but it's been a month already without anything which is what they told me originally, so if you find some that would be an option too.
 
If you have your heart set on a skeletor eel, I think you have to be patient. If you want one now, or in the next month, I'd get something else.

LA DD usually doesn't take requests. You may try writing directly to Kevin Kohen at LA. He may be able to let you know if there is a seasonality to when skeletor eels are available, and if it is likely they will have any in soon.
 
My roommate got his skeleton eel from LA Divers Den about 8 months ago. Still doing great and looks amazing!

I do believe they are some what seasonal and will start showing back up around Feb-March. They are well worth the wait!!!!
 
They aren't seen that often, this I know :). Lisa I had ordered one from DD and they sent me a tessy which I had to rehome. DD had sent the skeletor I had purchased to the person ordering the tessy :(. We sorted out the mess and they told me they would look for another one which should be about a month or so, that's where I got that time line. Knowing they are rare I'm fully expecting it to take longer so for now tank is waiting. Kind of sucks but that's the way it goes.
 
Have a few promising leads, and should start hearing back today and tomorrow.

I'll let you know, the simple answer is that nobody has them in stock... but a few people think they can get one from PNG or Indonesian wholesalers, we'll see...
 
Wlyon... how do you see him getting along with other fish in the tank? Only thing I'm worried about are a pair of 2-3" clowns. I know they mostly stick to shrimp/crab/etc... but there isn't too much real data from people keeping them.

I'm not even sure people know their true size lol
 
Woohoo! DD came through! Should have my eel on Tuesday! Will post pics, so excited ..... Been looking at a PVC pipe ready tank for quite awhile now so definitely ready to get this guy in there. They have another 2 so check DD!!! I'm also really nervous to get too happy before I actually have the eel happy and swimming around in my tank..... Crossing fingers and toes here lol.

Fish Stalker, could you message me your contact over there? They won't even tell me that they have one until it goes live on DD... would hate to miss this. :eek:
 
They don't order on request as far as I know. They are letting me know because of the disaster with my previous eel order from them where I had purchased one from DD and got a different eel etc, that's the only reason, so I don't have a hot line in I'm sorry to say :( it's just DD making it right. I know you are looking so I posted what I had found out. Hope it works out for all of us! I have signed up for email alerts on out of stock fish and been notified via mail but not been quick enough to snag it. The last skeletor eel I ordered from them was pure luck as I was waiting as they posted on DD. Have you signed up for the DD preview?
 
I am :) ...... Wishing you luck that is. Really hope it works out, know what it feels like to wait for that one fish. What size tank and tank mates are you looking at?
