HI guys my name is Nick a friend of mine has offered to help me start up a salt tank. What I am looking for is something around 130 -200 gallon range with over flows if anyone knows of one for a good deal.

Thanks in advance for looking

Welcome Samarai... :D

Are you looking for 130-200 total gallons, or display??? Not that I know of anyone selling tanks in any of those sizes, but it helps to clarify... ;)

$1500 firm!

Hope thats one of them tanks with the gold inlays... ;) lol

I figured I'd get kicked in the chops for the pricing but it isn't even close to what I've got tied up in it! I guess I should just keep it instead of asking so much.

I know what it is to have some $$$ sunk into this hobby... I would encourage you to stay in the hobby, especially since you do have so much invested into it... I blew a lot more money on the hobby before I discovered the club and the RC sales forum... It makes it a bit more affordable... ;) Of course, that only makes it so that you can buy something else you think you need for your tanks... :D

Your right, I was just looking at a 150g acrylic off ebay. I should just get rid of the tank and keep everything else.

hey, Thanks for the welcome. what I am looking for is a 130 to 200 gallon tank. I have an 80 already. Not salt water. I wanna move it to another spot in the room and put the larger tank in the 80's present location. I have wanted to do salt for some while. But I figure if I am gonna do it, Im gonna just go all out with a larger tank. partly cause I can do what I want and its supposently easier to keep everything in balance. Plus my wife said I could if I replaced the floors with hardwood. LOL

I wanna do a reef tank. But Im new to the salt water side and the lingo. whats a FOWLR tank. are they the ones that are open and usually have larger fish? I wan't smaller fish and lots of crevises so that no matter where you look something new is waiting for your eyes to see.

I'm all about reef tanks, every time I set up a tank that is supposed to be FOWLR, I end up throwing frags in it... The closest thing I have to a FOWLR right now would be my 75, only because my dern Flame angel has decided to start nipping at some of my zoanthids and other stuff...

Something to consider though is the cost of setting up that size of tank... Just want to make sure you're aware that it will cost about $400-$1000 for the lighting depending on what you want to keep and what system you decide upon, and then another $250-$600+ for the skimmer...

I want a large tank like that, probably a 180 or 240, but Ashley and I plan to move here in the next year or two, and I'll be danged if I have to set that beast up and then move it... ;)

So yeah, be sure to do the floor before you set up the tank... :D When I had my 125 I stripped the carpet from the living room down to the hardwood, and the only place that still had carpet was under the tank...

Then you'd have a nice new floor to spill saltwater all over...

hah hah

Awesome Art.

I need to stop looking until I find a house to rent though.

Anyone have a house and need a roommate or anyone currently living in an apartment want to rent a house with me? hah hah. I'm looking for a house to rent that has a garage and a decent amount of room, but it's probably gonna cost a bit...so a roommate would help.

Nick, that 125G in Knoxville on Craigslist is a good deal. We could build a stand and a canopy for it.

I'm helping him do the setup, and nobody in this area has anything for sale.

The tank is gonna be in my basement. Its a tiled den. so floor is no problem. Yeah Ken is helping me out. Right now I have bid on a tank thats in Roanoak VA thats on Ebay. its a 125 that comes with a bunch of stuff, so hopefully I will get it and be able to start some where. I'll still take a look at what else is out there because we all know how fleabay can go.

I looked at the other two from craigslist. I wish they had more detail then what they posted. That 220 looks cool. BUt that would be a drive for me to get. I do have family in Nashville that I could stay with. We'll see.......No over flows though.

SO when I do get a tank started is anyone gonna be send coral and live rock donations my way. I know its gonna be exspencive and its gonna take alot of research. I figure its just gonna have alot of live rock and a couple of fish and then I'll start adding some corals and such in later.
