I think your asking about an octo inking? Its very rare for the larger ones to ink. But the dwarfs do it when spooked at all. If your running a good protien skimmer Should not have to worry about it. They have 2 different inkings. Sometimes they will put out just a little which is no big deal and the skimmer will take care of it. If they do there massive inking then you need to do a water change right away as the ink will coat there gills and they will suffocate. I always kept about 20% fesh salt water on hand just in case. My last large octo was in the waiting room at my shop and I was worried some little kid would be slapping the glass of something and give the octo a big scare but it never happened
