Looking for an RR tank

Hey guys,

i'm new to the forum and was turned onto it from a collegue at work. I've done freshwater for a few years and after a lot of thought and planning, definiately want to get into saltwater. i'm looking for a larger RR tank. I looked at a 60 cude that i really liked, i'm willing to go larger, i don't want to go beyond a 125 though. anyone got anything they're looking to sell? let me know and i'll try and be as timely as possible in my response. thanks!!

i'm in Rochester, NY. I like that 120 quite a bit, i'll shoot a PM to him. The stand might not work where i'm looking to put it though, and that puts me into the build/piecing todather a set up and i'm not 100% on doing that just yet.

I have a 120g with glas$holes overflow for 200..but all I have is a tank and homemade stand..so the other deals here are better I's say..good luck

I've still got the stand and hood from when I had it if you're interested.

lots of good stuff guys, and a lot to consider. so far the GF is the one i'm trying to convince because it would be perfect on a brick wall i have in my house, but most 120's fit just that, no breathing room, which i can handle. she of course can not. i'll be out this weekend, i'm still up for anything, sadly maybe smaller, like a 90 possibly. all depends. i appreciate everyone's help though!

Depends on what you want to keep. A 60g cube is a night and day difference from a 120g or 125g. Swim distance is incomparable... even if the gallon amount is only 60g difference.

You should consider what you want to do with it, and what swimming room the fish you want to keep (unless you're just doing corals) need.

very true, i'd love a 120, don't get me wrong, or even a 90. the dimensions just aren't going to work though, the wall i want to put it on is a 4' wall and it's just to large, it's close to a sofa, and i would literally have to move my couch everytime i want to do maintenance on the sump lol. that isn't something i considered though, so thanks for the heads up!

really depends on your budget. buying new is nice, but some really nice deals can come along. the tank itself is a very small part of the equation. monthly operating expenses /bulb replacement can add up quickly. i'd reccomend buying a gently used complete system. i'd also lean towards a smaller tank . once you have ran a tank for a while ,you can upgrade/downsize. quality equiptment can easily be resold. most people who are in the hobby for any length of time will adapt to their own needs. the reef shop has great examples of a well designed medium and lg reef.

i'm looking to spend about 400 roughly. and now it seems like evaluating where i'm going to put it is becoming a big part too. i'll have to keep my eyes open i guess. thanks for everyones help!
