I have an empty 58 at home and I have been pondering about what I wanted to put in it. So I started looking around and an octopus peaked my attention. After a bit of research the species Bimac seems to be the best choice. Has anyone seen them locally or any species of octos locally. please let me know if you have, or have any insight for me. thanks in advance. -mark

So I am at my parents home here in tulsa and didnt notice that I am logged in under my dads name. So this message was supposed to have originated from soonerfan51 . thanks -mark

Have you researched keeping them? I think April found hers pretty boring. You have to be a night owl to even see them.

I have researched them, about a year and a half from baby to death is what I expected, if you can find them captive bred. I am a night owl as well so, I am excited about finding one. Thanks

Morning Sooner, just wanted to say that I had one years ago and he was highly entertaining! It never mattered what time of day it was if you put a minnow in his tank. He would follow you back and forth in fact until you got the idea and gave him one. I never got him to eat anything but live food but I very much enjoyed having him and plan on getting another for our agressive tank. There is nothing solid about him so he can slip thru a very small opening so take percautions to keep him safe. I kept him in a 240 and got to where I could hang on to the minnows tail and he would snatch it out of my hand. I think you will enjoy him even though it won't be long term because of his life span.

Thank you Pamela, I am definately excited about finding one. Where did you get yours? and did you have to have it shipped in? thanks and merry christmas.

I have seen quite a few of them up here in KC. Acctually I know of hand two LFS that have them in stock. But Kansas City isn't really that far of a drive from Tulsa......

I go to school in Emporia, Kansas and too have seen a couple at Paradise Aquatics in Kansas City, Kansas. One was a blue ringed and the other I would guess to be a bimac. I didn't ask how much they were when they had em cause I didn't want one at the time....especially the blue ringed! haha

Yeah for sure, pass the pretty one up! I'll have to ask my ex as it was years ago and he got it for me. As far as I'm concerned though, they are cool creatures.

I would love a blue ringed, but I'm a paranoid clumsy fool and a lethal creature in my tank isn't the smartest move. I think I've seen em at bluezooaquatics.com but never locally. WetPets down in norman has a kick butt blue spotted stingray right now, I know, not what your looking for but it's exotic as well, and very cool (you should all go see it, so sweet!)

Well.. I stopped by Crystal Clear Aquatics and found one there earlier today. I just got finished escape proofing the tank and getting him acclimated right now. I am definately excited. -mark

Hey ZC what are they priced at there in Kansas City? thanks i appreciate it.

Aquarium Wholesale in Olathe has them for ( don't quote me ) but I think $46 for the Bimac

Paradise Aquatics in Overland Park has a " wonderpus" ( unknown species of octo) for ( again don't quote me ) $50 and they have from time to time the dreaded Blue ring Octo for $75-100.

Petland in Olathe has a bimac octo for $55-ish.

But those 3 places all had\have octo's when I made my fish rounds last week. I make my rounds once a week so stufff changes from time to time, but those three places have octo's everyweek!!!
