Im from Owensboro KY not far from Evansville, Does anyone from the Eville area know if Aquatic Dreamworld moved or shut down completely?

Oh yeah - that store is long gone....

Do you go to Keith's store, Creative Aquatics, up on 4th street in Owensboro? He usually has some good stuff and very reasonable prices. Great guy too!

Yea thats where I get a lot of my livestock and corals that I dont get online. Theres 2 stores Ive been to in Eville, I wont tarnish their names but on top of the prices being high, I've seen a lot of sickly fish

There is a guy in Charlestown In, just east of Louisville that imports stuff from his home. He has very reasonable prices. I think he sells rock by the box, but I would definitely check him out. Below is the link to his web site.

I think 5.99 and theres usually polyps or mushrooms on it, Ive got a few nice pieces there loaded with green button polyps and purple mushrooms. You should also try Clist, I got a bout 200lbs from someone on there for $150 covered in coraline (Creative Aquatics-270-684-3331)

craigslist? I've been having no luck. One guy was going to sell me 50lb for $3/lb, but he eventually backed out before I could get it. Most other people want retail price for it.

200lb for $150, crazyness. You want to help out a fellow local reefer and send 50lb my way? lol

Hey to all, I just joined the forum tonight. I am in the process of setting up a 30 gal reef. I have been to Evansville, and Owensboro. Owensboro by far is the better store. Cheaper and just seems to do things better. IMO of course. I really like the way Keith does things in the store. The prices are marked clearly on the tank.

He has it set up so that there are sections of the tank and anything in that section is one price, a different section is a different price. The big problem with Eville is nothing is marked. You have to ask. Well if I look like a sucker, whos to say that the price isn't more for me. Might just be me, but, I still like the fact that I can just look at the tank and know that is the price.

Keith I beleive has sections for like, $8, 15, 25, 35, 45, 55, and an "ask for price." He also sells some used equipment for his customers. If you haven't been there you should check it out.

If you all try and set up a group please let me know, I am interested.

If you are ever in the Bowling Green area there is a store, I believe the name is, Fins Fur and Feathers. Another good store. Might just be a little too far for those in Evansville though.

found myself a great deal on liverock through craigslist. I got some well established rock for $1.75/lb. Only thing is, I had to drive to louisville to get it. haha.

I also dislike how waters of the world doesn't have clearly marked prices. Very few of the corals are marked. but then, I don't want to make a road trip to owensboro every time I want a fish or a coral. haha

Deep Thief, Do you ever go to Fishy Business? If so how is that store been meaning to go down there but never make it there

Sorry, Yes that is where I was thinking of. The fins, fur and feathers is in MD, where I am originally from. If you have never been to Fishy Bus, you should go some time. From Owensboro it wouldn't be too bad of a trip right down the pkwy. Check out their website, they have this huge round tank that rotates. Nothing for sale out of it but neat to see none-the-less.

I really like Owensboro's store from the ones I have seen around the area. He doesn't try and pressure you into anything. Clarksville is a complete waste of time for anything saltwater. Has been that way for years, I actually thought about starting a LFS some years ago and was checking out all the stores around to see the "competition." Evansville only has the one now.

I am not saying don't go to the Eville store, just go and know what you are looking for and what its worth. Know what you are doing so you don't get taken. Like I said, I don't know if he would, I doubt he would. I will say I would rather deal with the owner than the kid he has working for him.

From Owensboro, I would think it wouldn't be too bad of a drive to get to Louisville. Thats a big enough city, there should be some good stores there. For me it would be 2.5hrs, a little far but not out of the question if the store was good enough.

Well there seems to be enough people around between this forum and others, we need to start the Tri-State Saltwater Society, TSSS. Maybe have it in rotating locations so its close for everyone eventually. I would think we could get some of these stores to host us. What do you think?

Ive been to Greentree Pet Center by Bass Pro outside of Louisville, have a good selection got a nice 5" Hippo there for fifty bucks plan on going back soon looking to get a 265 and combining my other tanks and selling them. If anyone in the area hears of a 220 or 265 for sale please let me know.

I seen a 220 at the big flea market they have in Evansville on 41S. (the old K-mart building). This tank was located in the next door down (east) from the main entrance.

It looked kinda scratched up to me, but it may be worth a look. The flea market is only opened one week end a month. If you don't get there today then you will have to wait till next month.

Even if the price was marked at Don's store it'd likely be 3x higher than the regular retail price. The drive to Owensboro isnt that bad and Keith's prices are very reasonable.

I too am new to SW and am currently setting up 2 tanks a 75g and a 125g that is built into a wall. I live in Newburgh and would love to get together with some fishy friends, lol. If this area has no club maybe we could start a informal club.

Ive hear that Dan has his store wired and if you talk bad about it while you're in there he will ban you from coming in there LOL. Dont know whether its true but Ive heard from a number of people. His prices are extremely high I bought a frogspawn from Keith with 7 heads on it for 35. Dan had one with 5 not near as full and he was 65 for it.

OK everyone, I have PM'ed all 11 of you that have responded to this thread, expressing interest in a local reef/saltwater club. So far, I have only heard back from 2. I am willing to help and do some work for it but I need to hear from more of you. Let me know. I sent everyone my email. If you don't wish to email me, please feel free to PM me here. If you are interested and I did not PM you, please let me know. Mark

do you guys know where I could get a reef ready tank around here? I'm starting to get tired of my 75's noisy HOB overflow. Plus my front glass is fairly scratched up

Have you been to Owensboro yet? He sells used stuff that customers have sitting there along with new stuff. If you have not been there, you really ought to check it out. Can't be more than 30min from Eville. Tomorrow would be your best bet as they do this kinda on the side. Store hours are only at night like 4-7 during the week and sat ???, something till maybe 5 or 7 at the latest. Really worth the trip though. Good luck. Mark

PS as a side note, I am getting ready to email/call everyone that has contacted me about a club. I think we are at 10 or so at this point. Its a start. Will be in touch. Mark

Im going to be selling my 125 after Christmas, I drilled it back in May I can email ya some pics if you wanna see it, I hate to see it go but Im upgrading to a 220 and just wont have a room for 4 tanks LOL

As another side note to all in the area. Might be a little far for you all, but, Jan 23 down just past Nashville will be a Frag swap. I am about an hour closer than all of you so its not that big of a deal for me. Mark
