Looking for fake wood/resin wood post decor?

Happy thanksgiving everyone!

I did some googling and some searching on the forum with no luck.

My new build I was trying to think of a different seascape.

I would like to try to build a “under the pier” type of seascape with a couple of fake posts. In my mind I’m thinking of some fake wood posts that are flat on one side so can be placed against the back of the tank with the back of the tank being a mirror to make it look round.

I thought about hitting up someone on Etsy to try to 3d print what I’m imagining. It shouldn’t matter too much what the color and stuff is other than just a wood color since the entire thing will end up covered in reef tank by-products eventually anyways.

This would open up some more creative possibilities other than just….rocks. Fake fishhooks, rusty fishing poles, fake beer cans. Make it look super trashy, just like real life! Lol.

Any ideas where to start with this?

@Paul B has various items he’s found off the coast in his tank.

With that said, other than 3D printing, though color would be off, could make your own rock and do arch cement molds (like a half pipe style) and then stand them on end

I know some people have used “great stuff” foam which is relatively moldable but would likely need to weighted down with rock.

There could be other options I’m not thinking of

Thanks for the reply.

I thought also about using pvc pipe and that jb weld epoxy stuff. But it’s white.

The great stuff pond foam is an excellent idea too. Might consider doing something like that.
