looking for good advice...

on pairing up GS maroon clowns. I currently have one thats around 1 1/2" and looking to add another. I've thought about going the route of adding a bigger one (a lfs around me has one thats 3-4") but i'm afraid of mine already being a female. I've thought about adding a smaller clown, but I tried this with a occelaris and the bigger O. in my tank treated the new one like a dog with a bone.

Has anyone had any success adding another GS maroon (or maroon in general) to a tank that already has a dominant* maroon ??

Could you find one that is smaller than yours and that is coming from a tank with other larger maroons? Then your original maroon would be the dominant and the new one the submissive and in time you should get a pair.

At 1.5" you might get lucky, but safer is find smaller.
Use a specimen container/breeder box for intro to play it safe.

I just read the sticky on top, but davocean I think I may try that. The hard part is going to try and find a smaller one than mine. All my LFS have ones that are around the same size, and I was told to try and find significantly smaller ones.

You could wait a bit let yours mature more, but I'm not always that patient myself, maybe keep checking new arrivals for smaller.
If you do get a bigger one(soon), you'll see yours twitch in submission even w/ breeder container, just float it close to it.
