Looking for good detritus cleaners.

Okay so I am too the point in my tank where I want to start adding some good sand sifters/detritus eaters.

I do not secure my rocks so no urchins as they move rock or big Snails and they can knock them around as well...

The store I get live stock from recommended a

Rainford or Hector's Goby...which I actually really like...prefer the Rainford but the Hector looks cool too.

Just wanted to check here before I go and purchase one of these fine fish....they also recommended bumblebee Snails as well...

Any other advice?

I have a 36g DT w/ 29g tall sump with a 10+g Fuge section.

Current livestock...
Trochus Snails
Mini brittles
Cleaner shrimp
Mushrooms
Zoas
frogspawn

Want to add 4 peppermint shrimp 2 to DT and 2 to Fuge

Thin or no sanded and those Two things at the end of your arms called Hands. Regular maintenance and stirring up of the crud on the bottom in order to get it into the water column and into your overflow to be skimmed off. Those are your best Detritus cleaner.

Get a Diamond Goby. Best sand sifters out there.

Better yet go bare bottom and be done with it.

Like mentioned above you will be the best janitor that tank will ever see. I've yet to see a fish or an invertebrate make a pile of detritus in a bare bottom tank disappear. A siphon can be your best friend sometimes.

+1) You must be the janitor!

I do a 15% weekly water change and vacuum out any dead spot detritus at this time.

Run high flow so must of it stays suspended until in hits my sump filter sock. Rinse my nylon sock every other day.

If you run a sand bed it will "in time" turn into a nitrate / phosphate sump.

Keep a thin bed, keep it vacuumed and slowly replace it once a year.

Yeah I do 10-15% water changes and vacuum the sand bed. Even turkey baste bad spots between water changes for my filter sock to pick up....I'm think more just to add bio diversity to my tank along with utility any creature from here on out has to have a job....I will already have two lazy free loading clowns....and want to keep bio load light and peaceful. I will be adding a Pink Streaked Wrasse when I can find one but in the time being would like to beef up my CUC a bit...

I was told Diamond Goby get pretty big and may outgrow my 36g DT...

I may go for the Rainford Goby and a hand full of Snails.
