Looking for help/ideas

Hey Folks,

I've run into a bit of an issue with my Emperor Angel. About a week ago he suddenly stopped eating for no apparent reason.

I tested water last night... 0 Ammonia, 0 Nitrites, PH 8.4, and Nitrates ~5-10.

This fish has been in my tank for a few years, and ate like a pig, and he is now the only thing in the tank, as he bullied my other fish so bad, I had to remove them.

I've been feeding Formula 2, Formula 1, and an occasional mysis and he used to eat almost from my hand.

Now, he will come up to the food..then essentially turn his nose up at it...and swim away. He's looking a bit thin now..I'd hate to lose him since I raised him from juvenile. There are really no signs of distress, injury or disease.

Is there any food that's just irresistible to Angels and may incite him to eat again?

Thanks in advance.

There is angel formula, I might give that a shot. Every fish I have loves Rods food, so that might be an option too. How are all your other parameters, temp, SG, etc?

Thanks..forgot those params... SG is holding at around 1.024, temp varies 76-77 range.

Weird thing is...none of that has really changed, so I'm stumped.

I'll look for some of that food..see if it helps. I'll pick up some Nori/Seaweed Select to hang in the tank..maybe that will hang around long enough for him to eat.

Any other tried and true foods for this angel??

I have tried the Garlic Extreme with the Formula 1 &2, and while it made him much more tempted...it was a no go.

I have also tried small bits of Krill and hung some seaweed in there too...he has been close to picking at it...but nothing much.

My co-worker has brought me some samples of what he feeds, Rogers, a home made mix, and what he thinks is Angel Formula, so I'll give that a shot too.

As you can see from the pics, he's not near death or anything..but you'd think he's gotta be hungry/want to eat!

how old is the fish......he may just be old and on his way out....=( I hope he starts eating again.

how often do you feed him? maybe wait a day or two before attempting to feed him again.

My regal loves spectrum pellets and barley chases rods food. All the other fish are more than happy to eat his share.

Well..not good news I'm afraid...he won't eat anything that I've offered.

I got this fish back in 2009 in Juvi coloration. I feel so helpless..at this point I think it's going to be up to him...I cannot think of anything else to do for him. :worried:

So we are headed towards 2 weeks of not eating...he is still swimming about occasionally, and will come to the general feeding spot, but no joy.

Would netting him to hold him in one place help trying to get him to feed? I'm at a total loss at what else to do..since there seems to no parasites or legions on him...should I have a go at an anti-bacterial?
