My RO/DI unit is on the way. I want to have 2 collection containers (one for plain water and one for salt) connected (I think with some type of one-way valve). And then have the Auto Top-off from the salt container into my sump.

Can someone please direct me to some plans or other direction area for this project.

Thanks.

My top-off is fresh water to replace evaporated water(salt doesn't evap) Are you sure you want to topoff with SW?

Thanks for the help

No, I don't want to top-off with SW, but I was thinking of filling one container with fresh water, having it flow one way from there into the second container where I would mix in salt for water changes or have it flow in the other direction for top-off of my sump somehow using a gate valve.

Maybe I have too many variables here and it would be too complicated, but I will definately check out the link you reference.

this is behind my tank in a closet....my ro/di is hooked up to that and has a float valve to turn off the ro/di......then i have a 1/4 " ro water line feeding directly into my sump hooked up to my dosing meter....as water evaporates 1/2", it opens up and lets clean fresh ro water into my sump by gravity.......pic of sump to follow...

my top off line is controlled by the plastic float and clear tube hooked up to a "brain"

I like the way you rigged the output on your Proclear skimmer. If my mag-drive didn't mask the splashing sound I'd do something like that!

The output on the proclear skimmer is above the water level in my sump and it makes a splashing sound. I've been considering an arrangement like yours to quiet it.

Thanks for the help Charles. I'll share this with my "plumber" so it will be easier for him when our RO/DI finally arrives which should be in just a few days hopefully.

to finish answering your question...i just use a "t" and split my line with valves, so i can either fill up my top off, shut it off, or fill up another container for water changes...also a drain line coming down from my top off to clean it out...by putting in all the valves, i can do what ever i want to at any time using my ro/di...
