Looking for input on a new setup I am trying.

Looking for some opinions on a new octopus setup.
Sorry for any lag time for images. I kept them pretty small. And the long story.
I bought this Sea Clear 55 gallon tube tank.
I was thinking how cool it would be to feed him on the other side and watch him go through the tubes. Right now the tank is cycling so it will be a good 3 months before it is ready for an octopus. I have 2 power heads set one low the other high and on opposite ends to keep flow circulating.
It has an xp3 filter on it. But it will draw on one side with the return on the other.
I would like to put a bimac in but worried about maybe higher temps than they prefer. Tank runs steady at 78 degrees. So probably will go with Octopus briareus

Here is a after shot once it was built into my cabinets

Thanks blackangler,
I think it actually came out pretty good.
I just hope I can maintain the water parameters needed for an octopus.

I've never seen one of those tanks actully set up thats pretty neat I thought you already had an octo though

Your right The Carson I did, I was trying to get this tank built in time, he didnt make the wait time. He was given to me in a 12 gallon Nano.
He was pretty big for that tank. I couldnt take the chance by placing him in my main tank. Now that I have the tank built for an octopus I will wait. Give the tank time to get it right. Thanks Dan I will have to look in to one.

What steps have you taken to ensure that the Octo doesnt get out. I have thought about geting one myself but everything I have read has gone into (their escape artist) and it is hard to keep them in a tank.

Tank looks great!

Jim

Thanks Jim,
On part of my framing I made it about Ã"šÃ‚¼Ã¢â"šÂ¬Ã‚ above the tank. I fitted 2 pieces of 1/8ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ acrylic That cover each side. I have to lift the front which is hinged and has 2 double arm supports to hold it open. I had to cut out the notches for the cords, intake and return then I can slide the acrylic in and out as needed. So each piece is pinned in by the framing.

Did you ever put an octo in that beautiful tank you've built ? After reading about it, I'm interested to see a picture !

Thank you The Gnome for asking. I was going to wait to place an octopus in. I was hoping for about 3 months. I did place in some cured rock from another tank and stocked it with 6 Blue/Green Reef Chromis, a long with some Emerald crabs. The tank has been holding good parameters for a while now. The octopus was one who came up in a LPS. I couldnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t pass it up he looked so good.
He has been eating and doing well for a week now
Sorry for the lag time on the picture sizes. There about 200 kb each.
I thought it would be cool to show him going through the tunnel and a nice shot of one of his crabs.

The 6 Blue/Green Reef Chromis have survived and I had to place my yellow tang in. He was menacing other tank mates in another tank. I have seen them right by each other. But there are plenty crabs in right now.

Let me know what you think.
