Just out of curiosity.. you are down in San Diego, just a stone's throw from so many wholesalers, great LFS and fantastic fellow reefers, there are so many great coral sources down there. Why post in a forum for a reef club so far from home ? And that being your ownly post at that ?
I see that your sig shows that you have 3 yrs experience, but from our experience large colonies is the last thing that you might want. But at least if you get them from another reefers tnk you stand a better chance than if they were wild caught. Try for at least second or thrid generation colonies, if you can help it., and frag any dead sections and dip the heck out of it.. large colonies have so many extra places for pests, and their eggs, to hide.. not to mention their typical difficulty in adjusting to a new tank.. ie: flow, lighting, etc (but usually flow is the biggest change to overcome).
Best of luck to you.. but you might also want to post some in forums closer to home, to help increase your odds
