Looking for LFS

All Sealife generally has good quality stuff, and some oddities every time I go. I like that little shop. One thing I notice, they're extremely hung up on adding bacteria to your tank! It's not the answer for everything.

That's really funny!!!

The first time I walked in there, the only thing they could talk about was adding Turbo (bacteria) to my tank.

Just went to coral reef aquatic on US 1 and 127th and had a great experience. The store seems to be ran by the owner and his wife. He seems very knowledgable and really nice. I picked his brain for quite a while and he seems like he know his stuff. I would highly recommend his store.

yeah its right by the falls, on the opposite side of the street between the Mcdonalds and that gas station on 127th. I am usually reluctant with lfs since most of them by here dont know anything but I was actually really impressed by this guy. His wife seems to know a little bit herself as well. So far down here in Miami his place and aquarium concepts seem to be my favorite places to go.

I am looking for a torch coral and will definately stop by there this weekend. With your description, I know exactly where that place is.

Call The Fish Collection on 163 Street in North Miami. Last time I was in there, and purchase the dried Cyclopeze, the owner, Brian, had mentioned that they were starting to stock the frozen stuff. It has been a while since that visit so I would assume they have it by now.

Have you checked out aquarium qorld in Boca raton? It may be a bit of a drive for you coming from miami, but I drive down from west palm any day of the week for what they have. You won't be disappointed. Scott, the owner is a nice guy and has been in the hobby for a long time. If you don't see something you want, just tell him and he will get it in a few days.

I had the totally opposite experience there! The people were TOTALLY rude to my friend and I...He asked him how much a Coral was and the guy told him It was very expensive and walked away! We were shocked and walked out and went to Big Als where he bought a Helfrichis Firefish and several other fish! The tanks were amazing but the staff was VERY RUDE! The sad part of it was he want a few corals from there, one of the Black Tangs, and a lineatus wrasse! Oh well..their loss!

It goes to show how experiences vary. I wouldn't buy a gyppy from big Al's even if they had a Ferrari attached to it. I have had nothing but good experiences with Scott, the owner of aquarium world. I have found him to be very fair too. He would not welcome you with a latte chichi moccha capuccino at the door, but I have never seen him be rude to anyone. I have been to just about every store from Jupiter to miami and can honestly say his lifestock and store is the cleanest, neatest, and most thriving one I have seen to date. His livestock is not the cheapest, but fish from there are not cyanide caught or packed with disease, and will do very well long term. I have had very good luck with SPS from there too. I know for a fact he makes very little on livestock as his suppliers are not the cheappest, but they are consistant at getting him great stuff all the time.

Not a plug for the store by any means. Just an opinion.

you should be able to find cyclop-eeze at coral reef aquatics. He has them both frozen or the freeze dried stuff. I just picked up some on sunday.

I think you're stretching it a little my saying "he makes very little on livestock". Most stores have at least a 100% markup on livestock otherwise they can't cover the mortality rate. He may be the nicest guy in the world but at the end of the day all the LFS are in business because they make money.
