Does anyone know where to get this locally. Seems that ebay and BRS have it but I hear about 50lb bags of the stuff in other parts of the country....

I'm sure if you swing by SW Aquatics Rob can order some for you. He is good with the suppliers and has connections for just about everything. Though if you do regular water changes you shouldn't need to supplement Mg

True, I've been using instant ocean and it seams that it is often low in Mag so I'm needing to boost my levels and switch to reef crystals. I'll check em out though... Thanks.

Would be a drive to Coolidge, But I have 14lbs of it I would be willing to split up for what I paid per pound for it from BRS. Last a LONG time.

I'm going to consider that one, I was checking out your frags earlier, maybe I could kill two birds with one stone. Thanks, I'll get back to you.....

I believe IO is what both the major LFSs in town sell in their premixed water. I used that for almost two years but discovered that I had really low calcium. I switched to Seachem Reef on the basis of the thread below. The most obvious result was a burst of coraline growth.

Good choice :) Good alk as well. I have always used oceanic, mainly because it usually goes on sale for $32-$35 a bucket haha. Bit have not done a water change in 8 months + now so I just use salt when salinity drops from skimming wet.

Thanks, I'm having all sorts of chemistry problems so I'll read that thread.

32-35 bones a bucket? Where? I'd stock up several at that price.

Where do you guys get your salts from? and If you don't mind what do you pay, Ive been living off of IO from Petsmart/PetCo at about 45-55 a bucket.

I use coral life from petsmart cause its the biggest bucket they have and Im too lazy to go back and forth to the store. Im not a big level checker though. If my corals look good then its all good.

let me know what you come up with. I used to be a level checker but I tend to go nuts and over compensate for my problems and mess up stuff that didn't have any problem in the first place. Now I just do water changes every 3rd week and watch my tank for any signs of change. Once in a while I will test calcium, but I dont get to worried about it as long as its close.

Mixed, my SPS frag is growing like crazy but My frogspawn has been shrunken for the past six months, It just wont expand, also having algae issues i think because a lot of my coraline algae has died off....I'm pulling my salinity up, it was low, when thats up, I'll get Cal, Alk and mag levels about right. Then start in with water changes with a better salt...Fingers crossed.

You probably have too much flow on the frogspawn. If your SPS is growing like crazy than your levels are fine. Some other issue is affecting your other corals.
