Out of those I would get the reef octopus.
The coralife isn’t really a very good skimmer.
The aqua c is old power injection technology and has a pump that uses 7 more watts than the reef octopus.

I'd go with the Reef Octopus. My LFS uses them on their smaller tanks and they love them. I have an Aqua C Remora Skimmer that I used on my 28 gallon and I don't think it was worth the money. I've read great things about their in-sump skimmers but I didn't care for the hang on back. In fact I was going to buy a HOB Reef Octopus until I upgraded to a 65gallon tank and built a sump for it. I know it is easier said than done but I'd try and get a sump for your 75.

I am selling a BH-2000 HOB skimmer right now. I moved to an in-sump model. It is used about 10 months and works perfect - cleaned up almost like new. Still has until 10/13 under warranty. $125 shipped. PM if interested.

Sounds like fishgate has a great deal for ya! I'd check that out before buying a new one. A new BH1000 is around $190 and the BH2000 goes for about $220 so you would definitely be saving! The BH1000 and BH2000 physical size (if that is something that concerned you) with the difference being the pump- 500gph vs 250gph.

good deal!!!!

I'm also thinking of a reef octo for a 50 gal. Would a BH2000 be overkill and not work as well as a BH1000? Or is a overly powerful skimmer be ok?

I have a reef octopus bh-1000 on my 38 gal zoe tank and I'm very well pleased with it. I empty about 1/2 cup of thick tea colored stuff dailey.

if you're going reef, save your money. Get a hang on back overflow and use a sump. Then get an in sump skimmer. You'll thank me in the long run.

I once had a HOB skimmer and HOB refugium, but I did my setup with a sump. I still have a HOB skimmer, but did find the sump handy for...

1. constant water level
2. place for all my junk - rubble/extra rock, heater, probes, cheeto,
3. filter media (carbon, filter sponge), reactors
4. space to put frags, snails, bad fish
5. easier to do water changes

A sump is great for increasing your water volume and also hiding things such as heaters, skimmers, probes, pumps, reactors, etc. It is exceptionally good for housing a refugium. Where you can grow macro algae that will prevent nuisance algae from parading in your display tank. It truly does make a difference and you could build one for about $100.
