Em? Glad to help but what oppinions do you need on what? Quarantine, biggest tank you can afford, refractometer, rodi, dont listen to the LFS.

[Welcome]

Can you be a lil more specific on what you need opinions about.

I would start by reading the stickies at the top, lots of good info there.

If you are looking for opinions, you came to the right place, people here are full of them (including me)!

If you ask 10 people about a subject involving aquariums, you'll get 12 different opinions! LOL!

My opinion is DON'T DO IT! You will become obsessed with your tank and spend your kids inheritance on this hobby. Sure you will start off with a nice 20g or so and before you know it you will have purchased more than a dozen all the way up to 300g or more. You will get hooked on all of the different corals and before you know it will have spent a fortune on many corals and exotic fish that have all died on you because of some stupid little thing like not QT'ing a $5 blue damsel that brought in a disease that killed off every fish in your 200gal accept for itself, losing over $5000 in just fish. Then it lives with the tank unplugged for months and was even still alive 6 months after you unplugged the tank and sold it for $500 with everything to go with it.

Then fast forward 10 years or so and you were stupid enough to start it all over again.

Yeah its a great hobby! :hammer:

ok figured it out. sorry about that. It took about a month to get this far. I built the stand. Its a 120 gal with dual overflows and a 60 gal sump built from 1/4 inch cell cast acrylic. I just filled it last night with ro/di salt water that's been mixing for too weeks. Plan on building 34" x8" protein skimmer, calcium reactor, phosphate reactor, and carbon filter. Also auto top off. I've been out of the hobby for about 10 years and just starting back up. I plan to have mostly sps corals. I just wanted to know what everyone thinks of it. thanks

Yea it looks good and it seems your dog likes it too. Wow, building skimmers & reactors from scratch? That sounds daunting to me, but heck if you can make em work, that's great.

In your pic, it looks like the sump goes all the way up to the stand's platform. Is that the case? Be sure you have enough room to service & remove stuff from the sump. Have fun & good luck!

Cool that should be plenty of room in the sump.

As for the Chinese lights: All I know about them is what I read. Some love them, some tell stories of pain & suffering. In general life, I do know that I'm rarely satisfied when I buy bottom of the barrel. If you have experience keeping corals, you're more likely to have an easier time with them I would think. But those are just my biases

I'd do some research & go with top diode manufacturers like Cree, Phillips etc. At a minimum I'd insist on multi channel dimming and flexibility & options regarding color temperature. The amount you have to spend is a personal thing, but the latest generation of quality LEDs are really nice & have come down I price.

I'm not sure about how many 165w Chinnese LEDs would provide adequate coverage for you.
