Looking for personal experience with Cirrhilabrus flavidorsalis (yellow fin fairy wr)

I have a few questions to anyone who has kept one or a pair...

How big did it get? What colors was it usually sporting? What did it eat and did it take to prepared foods easily?

I'd like to get a male or possibly a pair, there's one at my lfs that looks like this and I'm just wondering if it keeps these colors usually once it settles in

Not picky eaters at all, IME. Took to standard mysis, brine etc very easily. Semi-aggressive towards other fairy / flasher wrasses but in larger tanks, this behavior should subside.

Yup. Being in the lubbocki complex, the behavior is quite similar; they are semi-aggressive towards similar wrasses. Won't reach over 3" at adulthood, but I would consider a 55g as a minimum sized tank. A male by itself will be fine.

Thanks for the info guys! What about coloration, is that their normal colors or is that just for courting?

Ok thanks for the explanation Hunter, I have no experience with wrasses. So if I got a female also it would most likely show those colors more? They actually have a pair and a single male at the lfs.

Maybe, maybe not. The issue most everyone has with pairs is the females tend to end up transitioning to male anyway.

I don't keep much for pairs these days, just a lot of different species. The males of each tend to flash each other and display just the same.

Only experience I had was the fish was doing excellent, eating everything and then one day it was gone. No idea what happened.

Mine is a mix between the top pic and and the LA pic. It is a nice addition, stays smaller than a lot of wrasses and not a crazy swimmer like others. Mine is a pushover but I have a couple of wrasses that are significantly larger than my yellowfin.
