Looking for recommended LFS

I'll be in Pittsburgh next month and was looking to visit a few LFS. One thread listed several stores to visit but it looks like some have closed. I'm always looking for SPS and Chalice. Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Mark

I would say best bet is Aqua World
2nd best, Elmer's Aquarium
let us know if you need adress or info

Thanks for the quick response Matt! I can goggle the addresses. Also, have you been to the Zoo/Aquarium? Is it worth going?

Aquaworld Super Pet Center... They carry a lot of high end chalices and sps coral. There really aren't any other stores worth going to for coral IMO.

When I was in WetPets the other week, it looked like they were getting into coral. They wouldn't be worth the trip yet, but something to keep an eye on. If you want SPS or exotic chalice/palys, just go to TJ's house and skip the LFS all together :)

wet pet's is a nice store as well in washington PA and seahorse is decent. Aquaworld is great and Elmer's is fantastic as well.

LOL

I still have not been able to make it out to Wet Pets. Heard it's a nice place for fish though. That'll be great if they decide to get into coral.

Thanks everyone. Looks like I have a lot to choose from. Aquaworld Super Pet Center for sure. Just checked out their web site. I'll check out Wet Pets too since it's close to Avella where I will be staying with family.

So what's everyone's opinion on the Pitt. Zoo/Aquarium? Is it worth taking the family (wife and two girls, 8 & 10)?

I would have to say yes, any chance to check out the oceans wonders is worth it. The zoo's cool too. Your kids will love it.
Bring your walking shoes:D

Aquaworld for SPS and LPS
Wet Pets for fish (they have had soft coral for a while, and recently set up a decent SPS tank. Pieces are all $99 for mini colonies, not frags.)

Of course, they are selling a rock of my xenia for $99 as well lol.

And yes, the zoo and aquarium are pretty neat

+1 for wet pets- good customer service. Recently needed PH calibration fluids- no one had any other than Wet Pets= over 60 minutes away from me one way - so I called and they shipped to me. I also think they have good fish for health and selection- along with Seahorse. +1 for Aquaworld regarding corals/clams.

Who is TJ and where is his house does he have a coral farm or greenhouse?

It was a joke. He's Tswifty, and he doesn't, just has the best collection of exotics that I've seen from anyone in the area. I'd recommend WetPets if you'll be in the area, they're a nice store. Aquaworld is the consensus nicest store, and only one that really carries sps/chalices/acans. I have personally never bought from them because the conditions they have kept their reptiles in were highly disappointing to me, and as a conscientious consumer, I refuse to support any pet store that doesn't keep all of its animals in conditions conducive to those animals' health.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the recommendations. As far as pet stores, we only had enough time to visit Aquaworld. They had a good selection, nice chalices, and the kids loved looking at the gators. Here's some pictures from our vacation.

Thanks,
Mark

how did you like the ppg Aquarium

We enjoyed our day at the zoo and aquarium. The girls really liked the hands-on tank downstairs with the rays.

Thanks Jesse,

I just bought a Canon t1i along with a 24-105mm f4L IS lens. This trip was the first time I really had a chance to use it. We drove from TX to PA so I had plenty of time to read up on the manual. I love all of the new features on the t1i, especially the video mode. I'm still learning; it's a big step from my old XT body.
