I love these guys. I have a few LE ones and am looking for others. I have:

Tyree Sunset
Superman

I had a pokerstar but it died on me when the tank crashed. Would love to replace

Anything else that is interesting with some striking colors.

Do you happen to have a picture of what an Encrusting Montipora like that looks like once it has grown out?

I'm not familiar with them, but you have definitely peaked my interest.

They tend to be slower growers and since the colorful ones are in decent demand among traders, I don't see many full tank pics with large pieces, but here's a larger shot. They are encrusting, so they won't get huge since most of the time there isn't a large enough rock surface.

Wow those colors are awesome. I have a large angled flat rock higher up in my tank that I have been unable to decide what to do with. Maybe I'll have to look around for one of these to try.

Thanks for the pics. :)

The one thing that I've found is that the color is very light sensitive. My sunset is that color but only in a very specific area. The superman goes from pretty to kinda drab by moving it 6". Maybe that's why you don't see huge colonies.

I have a superman, sunset and pokerstar, altho the pokerstar is brown and green at the moment... growning like made tho. sunset is a very slow grower for me, then again my tank really slipped the first half of this year. the superman is so-so grower. I love monti's though. i also have idaho, highighter and orange plating montis. after seeing the pink tip scrolling that tj has i think i will get one of those soon.

i just got my rainbow monti two weeks ago along with a sunset. the rainbow is growing like mad and already has become the fastest growing frag in my tank. Sunset has done nothing although has maintained its color. They are fairly high in my tank though. I was thinking of moving them down a bit but after reading what Mj posted i am having second thoughts.

MJ those montis of yours are breathtaking.

1. The Original Superman monti- I’ve distributed this for years now, and this is directly descended from the original colony that isseym328 got years ago, then through Bruddah and Tubs. Read about its history in this thread… ½” frags for $50 and ¾” to 1” frags for $75
A shot of my mother colony…

2. Tyree rainbow monti- Another famous monti… the polyps on the growing edge are red, and towards the center green, with polyps in between other shades… another one I’ve had for years… Frags I’m offering are recently fragged, and some show the rainbow colors of the edge and some don’t because they aren’t encrusted yet… ½” frags for $60 and ¾” to 1” frags for $60
One of my mother colonies showing the pattern…

3. Tyree sunset monti- Along with the Superman and rainbow these make the top three encrusting must have montis… yellow/green polyps on an electric red base… ½” frags $60… ¾” frags $85
One of my mother colonies…

4. Vesuvius monti- A monti I got wild that I’ve had for years. This encrusting monti has bright red polyps with a base color that is bright yellow with large verrucae (bumps) when under optimum conditions. Do a search on RC and you could see many people who’ve been happy with it. Frags I have do not have the base colored up yet so I’m offering them cheaper… ½” $35… ¾” to 1” $50

5. Copps’ reverse sunset monti- I got this as a wild tiny piece a few years ago and have grown it out, with no frags out yet. I’m ready to frag this guy… it has a bright green to yellow base when happy with red polyps… bluer lighting gives a green base and lower Kelvin gives a yellower base… opposite colors of the sunset… ½” frags $75

6. Hulk montipora- Another encrusting monti I got wild that has become a superstar. Green polyps over a purple base that sometimes turns blue on the tips as shown in the pic. As with most encrusting montis like this, high light, low nutrients, and good flow cause the best base color with good verrucae growth. ½” frags with great color and verrucae growth… $75 without verrucae (this will develop under good conditions of course) $60

yea he is where i got two of mine from, among other coral, and he threw in a really cool acro that is among my fav corals right now.
