On again Off again Reefer
Does anyone have a reactor (for carbon or phosphate) they want to part with? Like the Two Little Fishes one. Or even tips on how to make a DIY one? I've been using a magnum and it is dying on me. It is extremely old!!!!

I have actually been considering making some out of PVC, i have friends that need two, i would like one more

i have a 2 lill fishies for carbon right now and am loving it, basic design, large tube, with small tube directing input water to base so that it is forced to flow up thru the carbon.

I may try to make a few to keep the individual costs low, probably 15-20 or so in parts, hard part is the end caps and bulkheads are the expensive stuff when you can usually find 2 lill fishies for 20-40 buck used witha powerhead and no labor(thanks shortkid09 for the one i have). I am going to hit up home depot today and see if its worth it with parts or just easier to order one online.
if i end up making em ill pm ya.

well with parts and all at home depot it looks like the cost is about the same as ordering it from aquacave with the "RC5" discount code for reef central.
so looks like i wont be making any.

Dang guys!! Thanks for all the responses. Chad I may take you up on that. Is there any performance benifit over a reactor vs a magnum type setup?

Mainly carbon or phosphate removal. I like the idea of running carbon all the time. I don't do that currently and probably should. I currently run it for a few days a month....after that the leaks in the magnum get too hard to contain.....hahahahahaah.

With the TLF reactor it comes as you know with a ball valave and you can turn down the flow witch is needed when using GFO. I use two of them and place then in series so that I am only using one pump for both reactors. I have bought a lot of media reactors and have found that the TLF reactor about covers what the average tank owner needs. IMO

Cool.....I think I remember seeing those on your tank. I guess I'll just go with that route then. I've been wanting one.....might as well just get it then.

Is it ok to run it say 1 month with carbon and then the next phosphate remover ? not that I would do the whole month thing but just as an example.. thanks for the advise mangs!!!!!!
