This is my problem

As far as I can tell it is 2 kinds of algae. I'm guessing that it is green hair algae and some kind of red algae that sits on top of the green. I was told that if you do your weekly water changes that it would go away.. Well that was like 6 months ago. So far no luck with that. Could someone give me some direction.

looks like it could be a mix of hair and cyano. I would pull out as much of it as I could by hand. Then try to increase my water flow in that area. Cyano thrives in low flow areas.

Have u tested your phospates. I have a green hair problem that ive been fighting for 6 months. I think mine was started because my r.o. filters needed to be replaced. Now I just replaced my lights that were about 13 months old. From what ive heard old lights can trigger problem algae. Im still fight it. I use a 1/4 hose to suck it out and a tooth brush to scrub it off.

Most of the algae is cleaned out every week. these pics or from a 2 week water change so it had some time to grow. I have been thinking about getting a phosban reactor.

ok I tested my Phosphate and .1 almost zero???? I still have to add another power head, but it is my understanding that this will only take care of the red algae. and that the Green hair algae will remain..

it looks as others have said a Cyano algae. You show no Phosphates due to it all being absorbed by the cyano. Lower feedings, increase flow and do a weekly water change to see if that helps to remove it. Are you usind RO/DI water also or Tap?
good aritcle n battling cyano

the slime could be a result or temp flux ,or to many hours light. Hair is to many nutrients , cut back feeding.

Update

After reading several articles about algae I have decided to run at this problem full force. I ordered a couple of Koralia Evolution 1400GPH. I'm hoping this clears up the red algae (Cyanobacteria).

Then a aggressive water changes and algae removal. So on Thursday I did a 20 gallon water change and today (Sunday) I did a 25 gallon change. Removing even more hair algae today.

Hopefully I'm on the right track to getting this over with... Let me know if I have forgot something.
