Looking for some plumbing guidence...

I'm working on a 144 gal half moon setup, with the filtration in the basement. I've been slowly acquiring the parts (since they are pricey) and I'm nearly ready to start installing.

The problem is that the original intention was to power the entire system with a single pump, and not even need any additional circulation pumps in the DT. At the time, this seemed like a good idea, and I've been getting the equipment based on recommendations of a friend of mine that owns an LFS, and manages tanks for people as a career.

The plan is to have a 30 gallon sump/fuge in the basement, and branch off the return pump to power the skimmer, UV filter, etc .. with the discharges back into the sump and restricting the return to the tank to whatever is needed. My concern is that the water will blasting through the sump/fuge so fast (turning the tank over 6-10 times per hour or more), that I may not get the benefits from the setup that I should.

Should I consider some sort of a by-pass for a portion of the over-flow to reduce the flow rate in the sump? and if so ... any suggestions on how to accomplish that would be awesome. :)

If it helps, I think the model number of the sump/fuge is and Eshopps Adv-200.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
