Looking for start up help

Well hopefully i will not be that new guy that gets started just for kicks and fails(did once few years back)>so that is why i am looking for a person or person to help me get started out.

I have expierence with ponds.mainly right now into koi i would say bigger then most esp for area.We have an indoor 10,000 gallon koi pond that houses our koi>we go to shows with them in Indy and Chicago at present time.Also been encourage by some to show goldfish also.

so since i tried once and failed and just like my ponds wish i had help in learning before getting into it.I learned freshwater is alot different then saltwater.
so hopefully looking for a few people that will help me get started with knowledge on doing it right and options on what to expect if i do this or that(lighting ,tank size and such).

so hopefully in return i can become a member and one that can help others in future or help with your pond questions and such.

so maybe someone is upsizing their current tank or getting out of it.will be out of town till Feb 1 so might not get a response but thought i would get this out and at next meeting someone can discuss this and learn if someone has something also for sale.

Chicago's forum has a lot of used tanks for sale. read up on everything you do, including system design. research every fish and invertebrate that enters your tank, they can be impossible to keep, or eat everything in your tank. start out very slowly and work your way up without overpopulating your tank. if you have problems, don't hesitate to ask questions.

you can start out with really easy fish like damsels. they are one of the few saltwater fish as easy as koi and goldfish. reefkeeping magazine has information on live rock, protein skimmers and strategies for tank design.read up on quarantine procedures, and tank pests if you want to save time, heartache and money.

kind of why i am looking for a real person with real tank and expierence.
99% of the koi and goldfish books out there are so wrong,along with 99% of pond builders.
setting up things right makes it so much easier and cheaper from the get go.

probably will not go with alot of fish since i seem to have enough of them around this place.

i want to see and talk to alot of different people and see for myself what is good and bad.

Being in the middle of a fishroom remodle I have a lot of extra equipment here, let me know if there is anything specific you are looking for. Right now I do not have any tanks for sale, but plenty of other goods.

With your background in freshwater you will be fine. Personally I find salt easier than freshwater. It takes longer to make the system stable, but once you are stable and follow some siple quidelines, and practices it is quite easy IMO
