looking for suggestions on a fish.......

i have a 20L with lots of flow. it is an all SPS tank with a Mag 5 return, two MJ1200 in each corner and a MiniJet 400 on the bottom. the tank is BB.

any suggestions on a suitable fish?

I always like to keep a 6 line wrasse. They will eat some coral pests and are one of the most colorful (small) fish you can get. Another small favorite of mine is a Starkii damsel. I've never had an aggression problem with either of mine.

I would also suggest a longnose hawk or flame hawk if you're not keeping shrimp.

If a 6 line is too "average" for you, a 4 line is also nice. Similar behavior but nicer colors in my opinion. Also eats pests as well.

How is your tank covered?

it's not. however previously i had a 6 line and he never jumped.

how about a Banggai Cardinal?

My 6 lines have never jumped either.... not saying they won't, but all fish jump.

Try to get a captive bred Banggai Cardinal. The wild ones are very difficult to keep. Here's an interesting thread on them.

Yellow watchman goby: colorful and very in-your-face when he settles in. Good sand-sifter, for his 3" size.

His tank is BB... :p

I do have a blue and red spot watchman in my BB 120 though....

I have a fourline green wrasse which seems to be getting more aggressive by the day. I put a YWG in the tank with it and it was a non-stop battle for 4 hours that the goby lost. Probably won't affect you with a BB tank though.

I had been considering a chalk bass and/or a purple firefish. Not sure if they are compatible with a 4/6 line, but they are interesting fish and would probably look great in your tank.

Other interesting small/medium fish:

spotted hawk (great fish, will watch you as much as you watch it)
marine betta (likes to hide, but one of my favorites)
clown goby
dottyback
pipefish
blennys
royal gramma

at 6", I think the marine betta gets a bit too large for a 20g tank. Beautiful fish--considering one for my 90! Pipefish need to be fed live food daily.

I had a marine betta for almost 5 years and it never made it to 5". It isn't what you would call an active fish anyway.

i would love to get a firefish but from everything that i have read they are known jumpers and my tank is not covered. i would also like to get a bangaai cardinal but i am not sure if it could handle the flow in my tank.

so i think i am going to go with a blue reef chromis and a black cap basslet.

thanks fo all the suggestions......:D
