Hello,

Does anyone of you (less than 1 hr drive from Shadyside) has torches/frogspawns (frag) for trading with some corals I have? I have zoas (yellow polyps, AofG, green, sea mat), pavonas, kenya trees, green palys, mushrooms (green and purple).

Thanks,
Tyler

I just fragged this Bi-color frog spawn the other day

To this size to trade for the one sitting to the right of it.

I might be able to get 1 or 2 heads of one of them in a month or so.

LOL.. It does look like that in the pic doesn't it..... :)

No, the one I got in the trade is a green base purple tip.
The bi color has a neutral base and both tips....

I'll try to get better pics up.

Also, Adam at Reef Gallery has both morphs of these at his store.

In case it is just easier to purchase.

Yeah, I will try to make it there sometime. I heard good things about this store. Usually I shop at Elmer's (because there are many good restaurants in Monroeville lol)

Unfortunately, the second head of the frogspawn is about to fall off. The first one came off about a week after it's placed in my tank. I moved the frag to a different spot (less light), but did not help. There is a baby head coming out, not sure how this one is doing.

I read a bit, people suggest different causes. I use 2x160W China LED at 50% power. The frog spawn is about 8 inches from the water surface, and about 30 inches from the light. Any suggestions? Drone? :(

ya- my LPS corals are on the sand = 24 inches water depth, and 32 inches from light with my G3 at 75% and they are doing pretty well. I think you may be burning them. Also hows your ALK- softies tend to soak that up.

Thanks, Acer. My tomato clowns keep blowing up the sand. This is why I try not to place any corals on the sand. This weekend I will add some more small pieces of rock on the sand and move the frogspawn and also the torch (which appears ok, but not so healthy).

This is why I am seriously thinking about a no substrate display tank - using sand in the refugium only.

Both of mine are on the bottom of a 90 gallon with black box wifi 165w lights 8 inches above the surface. My photo period is a total of 11 hours but only 7 hours are 50-60% blues and 15-25% whites the other 4 hours are spent at 30% blues and 5-10% whites. They are in a medium pulsing flow (constant movement from the return gyre created by a Jebao pp20).

Check for anything bothering them. I almost lost a 2 head frogspawn and duncans from vermitid snails growing right under the fleshy area and causing them to recede constantly. After aggressively scraping them and super gluing any damaged skeleton or uncertain snail area they seem to be recovering.
