I need your suggestions on corals I can investigate for a very specific spot in my tank.
I have rockwork that goes all the way up into the top rear corner of my tank, underneath and around the return. I have 8x54w T-5s mounted approximately 5" above the water's surface, and the returns have eductors on them that suck surrounding water into them.
I'm looking for a coral that can take being just a few inches below the water's surface, starting at about 1" depth, going down maybe another 6" or as far as it wants to go. It should also enjoy high but indirect flow from the eductor sucking water in past it. So, very high light and very high but indirect flow.
I'd like something that is encrusting, but it's ok if it creates its own texture as it encrusts like a spongoides. I have my metallic green psammocora at about 7" depth in this same spot and it loooooves it. This new coral will be placed slightly higher than the psammocora, but the two will eventually be in close proximity as they grow, so it should be a peaceful coral that won't start a war. The psammocora is bright green, so the colors of the new coral should compliment that (don't want another green coral that will just look like more of the same).
I've considered some of the rarer monti morphs, but from my understanding most of these are moderate light moderate flow. Porites intrigue me, but I'm not terribly familiar with them and most of them I run across are a boring brown. It doesn't have to be an SPS, but I figured that would be the most appropriate fit in this spot.
Are there any suggestions out there? Tell me the coral and/or color morph you'd put there.
Here is a picture of the spot (planning on placing it above the eel tube so it can fill in the area above & around the tube):
