Looking into a calcium reactor...

I've been eyeballing an MRC CR-6. It is rated for a much larger tank than what I have, but I was going off of the old skimmer ratings (and needing to double, though that is likely not the case here). It lists a rating for 725 gallons. I'll have the 120 and 125 plumbed together for a total water volume of around 240 gallons (rough estimate). Is the CR-6 just complete overkill? I don't want to have to upgrade for a long time and hope for a larger tank in the future (300 or so-no plans at all, but down the road, you know).

The CR-6 has a 6" and 4 1/2" chamber that are each 21" tall.

Come on Gary; Too much is never enough :)
My "Koralline LX" (10 years old, probably no longer available) was rated for 500 gallons back then, now it's running a 200 gallon plus a 75 gallon sump, and I think it's time for an upgrade.
Reactor flows can be controlled down, but never up. Go Big!

Yeah, and when I look at the cost difference between a CR-4 and a CR-6, it's only $80 (with the spray bar upgrade and everythign else I'd need like tank, regulator, media, etc.). I'm wanting to get a new MR3 at some point too. I will be dropping some big cash wwith Andy soon, me thinks... The MR3's gonna have to wait, though (finally saved almost enough for the calcium reactor;)).

If you can find the parts they aren't hard to build at all and are not too expensive that way. The acrylic tubing is the most expensive part but it isn't too bad.

Hey Gary,

I have a dual chamber reactor and c02 tank that i need to part with. I am looking to trade for a good kalk reactor (no diy)

if i dont get any trade offers i would consider selling it too
