looking into getting a wavemaker

I currently use powerheads for circulation and I 'm looking into a wavemaking system.

What I've seen most often is the Tunze 6212 unit. I have a 180 gal reef with mixed corals - what wavemaker is right for my system?

Why would Tunze be better than another brand?

If I purchase the 6212 unit is there anything else I would need for the wavemaking system?

I assume the 6212 comes with the wavebox and the controller correct?

Looks like there are good reviews about the Tunze wavemakers, I just need a bit more info before I spend $500 on circulation.

Hope someone can help.

The wavebox is unique in how it works so I don't really know of a competitor it could be compared to. The wavebox is a useful addition to existing flow but I would not recommend it as your only flow source. It creates a rocking motion which lifts and suspends detritus and gets movement to all areas of the tank but a directional flow source should also be used. I would suggest a 6212 and a 6101 with a 7091 controller. The 6212 does come complete with its own controller.

Which controller does the 6212 come with? Does it have a food timer? How much capability does that controller allow for?

The 6212 comes with its own controller 6091, its only feature is to produce waves with the wavebox, it allows you to set how fast the pump turns off and on from .4-1.5 seconds. The food timer is included on the controller.
