Looking to add to my list of fish. Advice

I would like to add to my fish and would like some suggestions before I wander aimlessly into the LFS

I have a 40 cube mixed reef rimless open top
2 Clarkii's
1 Damsel
I had a Flame Hawk and he jumped. May add another.
I had a Coral Beauty and he ate a bunch of Acans
I had a Neon Dottyback and he ate a bunch of snails


I know it is a very broad question but all the fish I really like require a much larger tank. So I'm open for suggestions. I'm not a big fish guy so I'm looking for a little advice.

Hawkfish are great little fish, full of personality, and spend most of their time chilling out on the rocks, watching you watch them

Yeah I miss my hawk. I will def get another.

What about chromis? Can they be added to my current stock list?

kinda small unless you only get one . That damsel will probably bully any newcomers

Basslets, gobies, blennies, small anthias maybe, pseudochromis, assessors...

I would not get a catalina goby, they are temperate species, and dont last long in reef tanks.

You probably need something that is a tad bit aggressive since its going in after the damsel and clown. Get another Hawk to start with. Didn't know they jump (sorry to hear that). I think a Midas Blenny could hold its own in your tank and they are fun to watch and very attractive.

Greech- Yeah I was shocked the the Hawk jumped. He could barely swim as it is.
My Damsel really has not been a problem but the Larger of the two Clarkii sure is a bully.

I went out and looked tonight at some of the fish you guys suggested. Basslets, Gobies and Hawks were in my radar. The Swiss Guard was stunning and I liked the colors of the Chalk bass. The Flame Hawks were really pail red. I did not like the looks of them. My last one was bright red so I think I'll hold out and see what the other stores have this weekend. Thanks Again

Well I added two fish to my system. A Chalk Basslet and a Six Line Wrasse. The Chalk Bass went in first began to hide instantly. A couple of days later I was at a LFS and found a excellent Six Line already quarantined and ready to go. I adde him and the other fish were not happy. Nobody nipped at him but the Damsel did chase him quite a bit. The clowns which are the bigger bullies could not care less about him. During this time the I guess the Chalk Bass saw this opportunity to come out and not be bothered. None of the fish mess with the Chaulk Bass.

One week later all seems good and everyone seems to have their place. I thank everyone for their suggestions and opinions. I think I'm stocked as much as I can safely go.
