Hey everyone,

Its going to be time for me to make a move into my new home here in a few months, and I would like to see if anyone knows anyone who can give me a few tips on building my own tank. I would like to bulid it out of acrylic, probably an 1" thick or so. My dementions I would be looking for would be a 6' long x 4' front to back x 2' or 30"deep (not really sure how deep yet, any recomendations are welcome though). I would look to have a few closed loop systems intergrated along with an exteriorly build overflow system so I dont lose room inside the tank..

Thanks for taking the time and any suggestions you all might have !

i wouldnt attempt that big of a tank as a first time build.to get a good glue joint on that thick of sheet you will need to know what you are doing.i have worked with plastics for 10 years and have made some sumps and small tanks.i wouldnt want to build that tank even with my experience much less as a first build.i wont even make myself a large tank just out of fear that i might do something wrong.you could get that size tank from glasscages.com and drill it for the loops.i have been looking at larger tanks myself and found the prices arent that high.also to make the tank you want it will take minimum 4 sheets of 1" and if you go 30"deep 5 sheets.that is not cheap, probably at least $300 per sheet.so $1200-1500 in acrylic sheet alone.

I know John at FAOIS has a 72x27x24 acrylic in stock...not quite as deep u want, but thought i would mention it.

I have a few clients with Tenecor tanks. My 2 cents..., sloppy. Kind of like the quality of Sonny's Bar-b-que compared to other places.

You get what you pay for.

I was on a cruise to the Caymans during the drag race. Really sad to find out about Eric Medlen passing away. We were hanging together for a bit at the Vegas race.
