If I recall, rechargable resins require certain chemicals to actually recharge them (muriatic acid?). If that's the case, I would prefer to just replace the resin all together. I don't believe refill quantities are that expensive anyways.
Did you happen to replace the other stages at the same time as the resin? If you did, then I might look at how well each of the stages are seated into their housing. If you didn't, then make sure the resin is packed in there well. If it's not packed tight, there could be a channeling effect that causes the water to bypass a lot of the resin. Have you "broken in" the unit after replacing the resin? I usually have to drain about 50 gallons before mine drops back down to ~0 PPM.
On a side note, I've read that it's a good idea to replace your primary stages at least every year, even if you are still getting ~0 PPM(or whatever you normally get). Doing this will extend the life of the RO membrane, which is obviously more expensive than the other stages.
