Looking to buy proven breeders - where?

Hello all,

I am looking to buy proven breeders. Are there any sources out there that offer this? I had success with a pair of orchids about 4 years ago from Inland Aquatics, but was possibly looking for somewhere else. I am especially looking for a pair of Bangaii cardinals.

Any help would be appreciated - public or private.

The BEST source that I know of for proven breeding pairs of any species is your local reef club. Get involved and let everyone know you are interested in breeding. I get the majority of my pairs locally this way, often they are given to me just because people are so supportive of captive breeding. In fact there is an lfs that gives me pairs they get, they know it will come back to them in the long run. Let every lfs in your area know you are looking for pairs, prople trade them in all the time. The easiest to come by are mature maroon pairs. ( "I just don't get it, suddenly they are soooo aggressive") :D

As for commercial sources I only know of Inland and the good Drs "divers den", but I have never bought a pair this way and I have 15+ spawning pairs (assorted species), almost all obtained locally from hobbyists.

Get involved locally and you will have more pairs than you can handle !!!

Ditto on that advice, nearly 3/4 of my pairs are from local sources. It takes awhile but it's alot cheaper than buying documented breeding pairs which can run you several hundred bux.
Also, you can usually scope the tank they were in and determine the healthiness of the fish. I've also never had a problem with parasites this way

Thanks for the advice guys. I have posted in my club, but no hits yet. I was really hoping to find a bangaii pair somewhere, but they seem very hard to come by.

I am going to order a pair of orchids from Inland, so we shall see how it goes.

I sell cb bangaii pairs (guaranteed male/ female) but you won't like the price :D Can't discuss it here but PM if you are not easily shocked. ;)
