Not having used a Quiet one I could only speculate, it is likely noisier simply because it does twice the flow volume and generally bigger pumps are noisier. It is likely also hotter as it is a bigger motor.
I should be receiving mine in the mail tomorrow
I've never ran either of the two large pumps but I have had comparable Quiteone and Tunze smaller pumps. IMO the Tunze is a much better pump because of build quality. And you get the great Tunze customer service. I'm going to run mine internal so I don't expect noise to be a problem. I live in AZ so heat is also a concern for me, and I would guess it would put out the same amount of heat as similarly sized/rated pumps. I've never once been disapointed with a Tunze product (and I own a lot of them).
Thanks Roger you are correct with the wattage of 140 on the quiet one. If the wattage is lower on the tunze then it should run cooler. Do you know the decibels the tunze typically runs at? Also I can't seem to find a place to buy the replacement impeller.
I don't know the decibels, you can order the impeller on our site, they are very expensive as the drive unit is a huge rare earth magnet, about half the price of the pump. So far I have only known of one needing replacement and it seems something got in the pump, stopped the turbine and the turbine then stripped from the magnet.
I would not reduce it beyond 2 1" lines, I attach a chart I found in the link below and two 1" still has less capacity than a single 1.5", it actually would be closer to 3 1" -
I won't be able to plumb it for a little while but I'll turn it on in my sump tonight and see what happens. 4th of July sales are comming up, I'm not sure if retailers will have sales on Tunze but it may be worth the wait.
