LOOKING TO FEED MY FISH WITHOUT PO4

What fish food doesnot contain PO4. I heard that dry fish food contain PO4. What about frozen food? What about homemade?

I'm interested in this as well but have a feeling that it is unavoidable to inadvertantly add some minute amount of PO4 in any fish food.

I've been using New Life Spectrum pellets and all my fish just love it so I doubt I would change it even if it DID contain some amount of PO4.

TAG.

Just about everything has some form of Phosphates in them. You're more or less just masking a problem. If you have PO4 in your tank and it's caused by overfeeding, then using a PO4 absent food isn't going to help anything. Instead, cutting down the frequency and amount at feedings will help drastically.

I've read that the best thing you can do is to use frozen cubes, that have been fully thawed and then thoroughly rinsed before being placed in the tank.

Ive heard that Frozen Brine Shrimp are the worst as far as PO4 contents.
I dont have a net small enough to wash them off.

Just thaw all frozen food in tank water in a little cup. It'll sink. Pour off the water. Add new water. Repeat as many times as you like to remove the thaw "juice". I do it with all my food.

Rinsing is only going to remove the added phosphates that are put in to preserve the food. It will not remove the natural phosphates found in almost every food, be it flake, frozen, or live.

I think there is a ton that is added. Anthony Calfo referred to unrinsed frozen foods in a thread here some time ago as "rocket fuel for algae".
