Looking to start a Mantis tank, need some basic info

Hello,
I am new to the forums, so hello to all. I have been doing freshwater for years now(about 6-7) and have had one reef tank(29 gallon hex tall). I have plenty of experience as far as attention to detail, basic mechanics or running aquariums, and a limted knowledge of saltwater. My last SW tank went very well, I had no serious problems over the life of the tank(about 2 years). I kept what I was told were hardy fish/corals/etc. I currently have a 20 gallon tall with a tropical FW environment, which I would like to convert to a SW Mantis tank. On my last saltwater tank I had a protien skimmer, fluval canaster style filter, and other basic equipment(heater, etc). While I know that this wasn't the most desireable as a sump tank(refugum?), it seemed to work well with consistant water changes and other maintenance. I am looking for what to use fliter wise ect. Looking to have live rock and any BASIC corals/etc if able to co exist with the mantis. I am more interested in the mantis than anything else, so what I can have co-exist is irrelevant(I know little to nothing is compatable live animal wise:rolleye1: ).Currently running a Marineland biowheel that is brand new as the old one was getting to its hay-day,and about 3x the GPH needed at 20 gal.( 200 gph) I wouldn't assume this would be acceptable for this type of saltwater setup, but have seen and read of people using hang on the back filters with mixed success. what I am looking for is suggestions for the following:
-Filtration
-Substrate
-Type/s of Mantis that will do well in 20 gallons

I've done a lot of research and have absorbed tons of info. My problem is, that there is such a mad wealth of info, much of which differs source to source. I would like some hard info from the pros!:D It seems one person says 20 gallons for a certain type of mantis and another says 50, so looking for which, if any mantis will trive in a 20 gallon. I've seen several species that seem to stay small that pique my interest,Neogonodactylus wennerae ,and Odontodactylus Havanensis , picked based on size and general characteristics such as activeness and color(again based on third party info...). I'd love to get some info soon, so I can get my favorite part over with(cycling, yay :rolleye1: ). I would eventually love to have a Zebra or Peacock as I find these generally beautiful, but for now my tank restictions prevent that(or should I say the "Boss" slaying me for buying another tank, I dont think 5 would be so bad ;) ...hahah). thanks in Advance!

Ditch the bioballs/wheels and just use liverock. you want lots of rock and rubble and sand for your mantis anyway. Invest in a skimmer. General mechanical filter is fine if you use it to run carbon pads or just generic filters to get larger bits of gunkies but keep it clean.
