I haven't snorkeled in Lee county, but I've dove there a few times. Visibility can be quite low and for dive sites they are far off shore. Why not drive to the East Coast? Much better dive/snorkel options.
West coast doesn't have that good visibility. Like ace said, it's better to just go to the east coast. It's only what, an hour or two away? Or make a weekend trip to the keys.
I imagine in lee county it is best to get as far away from the mainland as possible. I'm going to Sanibel this summer for a week. Might be better there but I doubt it's as good as anywhere on the east coast.
