Looky what my GBTA gave me for Xmas!!!

Well now! A couple of weeks ago, my GBTA went and got herself sucked into the intake of my RSM... so I turned everything off, and she pulled herself out in good time...walked down the back wall of the tank and back onto the rockwork...

She didn't look too good for a couple of days...but her colour remained 'normal'...and then she ate...so I figured she survived the incident.

On Friday she wouldn't eat...yesterday her tentacles were all little and skinny and she recoiled when I poked her with a shrimp (usually she lunges at it)...

...and last night when I checked up on her I found this:

:eek2:

I sure wasn't expecting that!!!

As you can see...they both look fine! I'll try feeding them again tonight or tomorrow...

I got her on October 16th...so it hasn't been very long...

I'm wondering if the 'trauma' of the intake initiated the split? I seem to recall reading something about that being possible.

LOL...regardless...now I need to figure out what to do with the baby...the tank is too small for 2!

Well they both look good in the pix. Good luck. Maybe i should let mine get into the intake as well to get it started :) J/K. I guess you could call yourself lucky. There arent a lot of people that have had this outcome.

Thanks! I hope they have some kind of memory! Don't want another intake accident happening!

I suppose I'll wait until one detaches and then nab it. I think my LFS will take it from me for resale.

i wouldnt take him back right away...if you had 10" of nem before, it was 1x10. now you have 2x5 :)

be careful with parameters while they heal...they may not eat, especially the clone, as the mouth may not be healed. the advice i've been given is not to feed for the first 7-10 days. so far i've fed the parent anywhere from 5-8 and the clone from 7-14 (my clones have had a harder time healing, i guess because so far they have been significantly smaller...my math would have been 1x16 to 1x4+1x10, and yes, i know that doesnt equal 16!)

a small water change and maybe running carbon? thats what i've done each time, and they really seem to recover well given the stories i've heard from other (but i'm no expert!).

Merry Christmas!

Thanks! I did a WC yesterday...and I run carbon as a matter of course, although I might be due for a change...thanks for the reminder...

Today the clone (I think) was floating around the tank ... I stuffed him in a crevice (gently) worrying about another intake incident...

...*ack*...

This is almost as bad as have a baby...er, or a puppy...or...well, one those little thingys...

id wait till they colored back up some. prolly get more $$ from your LFS the brighter green they are
