loose carbon in the sump?

i spilled a little carbon into my sump, its been there a while, is there anything that can go wrong, should it be removed? are there any ill side effects?

It is not likely a concern. I had a tank emergency years ago, and I intentionally dumped GAC into the sump to give a blast of cleaning. If you want and can easily siphon it out, that is fine, but it won't hurt anything staying there forever if you cannot get it all.

I spill a little carbon in my sump from time to time and it has never hurt anything.
