Lordhowensis question

I have an Acan Lordhowensis and I have it on a frag plug at the bottom of the tank on the substrate. It is getting bigger with more heads but my question is, should I glue the frag plug on a rock so it spreads more or will it just spread and get bigger on its own without the support of a live rock under it? The same question for a Blasto, does it need a rock as a base? My Blasto is growing and it looks like a round bush.

My understanding of the species is that the substrate will cause irritation to the new heads growing. I stick my plugs to a piece of rubble with putty so I can pry off the rubble and move it if I need to.

i have placed all my acans on the rocks. i don't know that the sandbed would be any different, or not, that's just where they fit best in my tank.

one thing i keep in mind, is that over time as they grow, they will fuse with whatever rock you put them on. so keep that in mind. i made an error putting mine on a big, flat, base rock with attached arch. it's like a 30 pound hunk of rock. looks awesome, but now they are very much a part of that rock. :)

Thank you!!! After reading this I ended up gluing and puttying three frag plugs together and putting the original frag on top of that. It seems more spread out and looks much better. I wanted to still keep it on the bottom of the tank.
