Losing Angel # 6

Ok Someone please help if you have had the same experiences. I have gone through the first 30 days of this forum and found hardly anything on angels. This problem has now occurred 6 times in a row exactly the same way each time.
1) purchase angel medium to large size
2) place in QT
3) Eating great by the 2nd day maybe 3rd day max
4) 3 weeks later comes down with ick.
5) next day cloudy eyes followed by rotting fins
6) next day dead.
The last emperor angel lasted 2 months in the qt which was also my frag holding tank
Has anyone had a similar problem? or I am the only idiot out here still trying unsuccessfully to keep Angels?

I'll admit it, I've lost my fair share of Emperor Angels. According to S. Michael, angels are prone to disease such as ich. These days, I take no chances - I assume that fish have at least ich. The problem is that sometimes they have more serious disease such as Amyloodinium, and I've heard that many angels are caught with cyanide.

How long did you wait between fish? If your fish dyed of ich, your tank should have been left fallow for at least four weeks...if it was Amyloodium, 3 months in order to rid the system of these parasites. Had you not had your frags in the same tank, you could have treated these fish and possibly saved them

QT tank 55 gal. Did not check water params yet ? will do tonight but I figure if the corals were doing fine it should be good enough for most fish. I have to point out that I don't lose any of the other types of fish I buy- just the angels. These losses have been over a period of 3 years so the qt tanks have been disassembled or left fallow for long periods in between. The emperor is still hanging in there. Treating with hypo in a seperate tank now. Any one know if a cleaner shrimp will survive hypo?
I guess I am trying to figure out if this is the general case amongst recent Angel purchasers or if I just have bad luck or if I am doing something exremely wrong. Do you treat your angels as soon as you get them or do you QT them and see if something goes wrong within the qt period before attempting treatment

Ammonia is far more toxic to fish than to corals. I know a lot of people make this assumption, but it is just not true. Low dissolved oxygen is another parameter that would kill all your fish before bothering corals.

No, a true hyposalinity treatment is too low for shrimp to survive.

With angels, I play a wait and see game.

Thats why I waited 2 MONTHS and still the breakout. Have you had angels get sick and potentially wipe out your display after this 1 month period?
