I know others have posted issued with losing remote connection to their system and I was having problems for a while. Curt took a look at everything and told me to disable my email alerts which I did and havent had any problems. But today I figured I would try it beause its a feature I paid for when buying the Apex and sure enough as soon as I enabled the emails, I lost remote connection to my system. Also, when I enabled the email function and requested a test email nothing was sent. Has anyone figured out a fix to this problem?

I think first thing is to determine if you have one problem or two. Can you telnet into the controller and run the mail diagnostics and post the results here? There are instructions in the User Guide as well as Neptune's manual.

By lost remote connection, do you mean accessing the controller from either your smartphone or the web? Does accessing the web pages from your home computer still work even with email enabled?

Hey Alan,
I keep getting a connection failed message when trying to access from smart phone or the web away from home. I also get the same message when using my home pc. I will telnet when I get home later and see if I we can figure what is going on. I sent the telnet to Curt the last time and he said it was because my email was enabled and suggested I disable the email function.

So you can't access your controller at all via the web pages - not from home, not from the internet, not from a smartphone? The only way you can get into it is either telnet or via the display module?

Is that right?

Correct. This has been a problem since I got the controller and 6 months ago but never explored a solution because I felt as though I didnt need to get email alerts since I am religious about checking the tank during the day from my pc at work or my phone. I disabled emails and havent had a problem until today when I thought I would try to figure out the problem.
